A food allergy is “an immune system reaction that occurs soon after eating a certain food. The allergy-causing food can trigger symptoms such as digestive problems, hives, or swollen airways. Oral Allergy Syndrome is “a form of a contact allergic reaction that occurs upon contact of the mouth and throat with raw fruits or vegetables. Common symptoms of OAS include itchiness or swelling of the mouth, face, lip, tongue and throat. OAS is generally considered to be a mild form of food allergy.” (AAAAI)
